About Me

Sarah, also known as Sarah Jane, is a 20 something sales agent trying to figure out what to do with her life. Type 1 diabetic for 14 years, she also suffers from depression and anxiety. After peaking out at 260 pounds in the summer of 2012, she realized she needed to change her lifestyle. And in the process she realized that living healthier - physically and mentally - helps manage both of her conditions. Her mission is to share her story with others in hopes it will help them lead healthier, happier lives. Sarah has a BA in History from Missouri Southern State University. She has two cats, a psudo Russian Blue named Barnaby and a seal point Siamese named Liah. Sara is an earlier 20 something business student. Also dealing with her own anxiety issues, healthy living is key to success in all aspects of her life. Sara lives with her cat, a black cat named Nala. She's hooked on Victoria Secret Pink and mini sprites.

Short Term Goals

So. Here is my plan for the next four days. Hopefully this will kick start me into work out mode.

I'm going to get up and go straight to the treadmill the next four mornings. Then on Tuesday, hopefully I can get up early before I drive to school and get on the treadmill.

But if I can just get into the habit on days that I don't have school, either I'll want to do it on the days when I do, or I can use Tuesday and Thursday as two "days off".

But I'm not thinking past Monday at this point.

Four days. 30-60 minutes. I can do this.

Update 9-20-09

Eating:
Kept to the meal plan for the most part, only cheated a bit: 2 ice creams (eeky, they were only 140 cals each) and 1 cookie at church. I want to get to where I crave healthy foods instead of unhealthy ones.

Exercise:
haven't exercised yet today. gonna try to force myself treadmill before I go to sleep. *sigh* I meant to work out before church this morning but I overslept because I stayed up too late. I don't have anything going on tomorrow, so I'll be on the treadmill when I get up. I hope.

No Title

I feel compelled to post something about 9-11-01.

I remember. I do. I was 14. I was two weeks into school as a freshmen in a new town where I knew no one. I just started at this school who's student population doubled the population of my old town. I was scared out of my wits. I had no one to grieve with, except the softball players. I played softball that day. The fields I played in are next to an airport. I remember how eerie it was to have no planes flying over constantly like they usually did.

I remember. I remember watching it all day during school, until our principal announced the terrorists could not interrupt our day to day lives anymore and we were to resume class. I remember. I remember long lines at the gas stations. I remember.

That is about all I remember. It's easy for a Midwest girl to push it out of her mind. To not dwell on it. To me it was all just pictures on TV.

I remember feeling patriotic. I remember feeling close to my fellow Americans. I remember going to a church vigil the next day. I remember.

I can't watch the shows on TV about it. Dad has been watching the History Channel all day. I can't watch it. It gives me chills. I don't want to imagine what it was like to be a family member or friend watching that horrific scene on television. I don't want to know what it would have been like to be in NYC or DC that day. I. Do. Not. Want. To. Know.

I feel like a failure as an American. Why don't I want to "remember"?

Believe, me I'll never forget.
